Leather will be making its World Premiere as part of Philadelphia Q*Fest on Sunday, July 21 at 7pm! Stick around for a Q&A with the director and cast (sadly, I have rehearsal and can't be there...but they are the loveliest people!). Ritz Bourse Theater (400 Ranstead Street Philadelphia, PA)

The ADaPT Fest is coming in just TWO DAYS! So excited to be showing a (slightly shortened) version of "Her Story" with (Alex)andra Taylor Dance. Today was the last day of shooting on All My Children before it goes on hiatus for a few months. It has been a wonderful experience being a "barista" on set for the past few weeks. I've met so many wonderful people and could not adore the cast and crew more-- they are so talented and professional. Looking forward to going back to work in a few months!

More rave reviews for Jollification | Mortification!
"An hour after I leave the theater I realize Ive been indulging in a kind of Mittel European Bollywood. All the elements of experimental opera without the inane plot platitudes. And I want more. A must see whether you intimately know or want to get to know Ildiko Nemeths New Stage Theatre Company. Downtown entertainment with huge rewards for its audience." Another sweet review for Jollification | Mortification from Joe Meyers:
"Nemeth creates experiences that mix theater, dance, cabaret, and performance art. She has an absurdists view of life and the world that produces surprising juxtapositions of beauty and ugliness, and comedy and horror. The notion of story is almost completely absent but she presents gripping scenes and striking tableaux that stay with you for days." Read the entire review HERE.

Mac & Cheese got it's first review! Here's what they thought of my performance:
"And Stacey, the potential source of help from the outside world, has a lively presence. She gives us a female version of that nuanced performance by Martin Balsam in Psycho." Read the whole review HERE.

So excited to be filming a short again soon with Emre Cicek! He's a wicked talented filmmaker I've been working with since his days at NYFA (Mac & Cheese was his thesis...) and I can't even imagine how much more awesome he has become over the past couple of years. The script looks horrifying (as any good horror film script should) & I can't wait for production in March!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! After lots of travelling (in chilly Indiana + sunny California), it's nice to be getting back to the routine I love in this dirty city. It's even nicer when you get to have a little reunion with the cast + crew of Leather! Patrick so kindly scheduled a little rough-cut screening at Anthology Film Archives. So proud of this little gem. Check out leather-movie.com!

Tomorrow at 7pm, (Alex)andra Taylor Dance Company is performing Her Story as part of WAXworks at Triskelion Arts Center in Williamsburg. The women I am dancing with in this powerful piece are incredible inspirations, as is Alex, herself! Please come to see an excerpt of our work-in-progress.

Today was the last showing for Garden of Delights. I could not feel more blessed to be part of such a rad production! So sad to be moving on, but I know New Stage Theatre Company will have more coming soon with their 10th Anniversary show at La MaMa in March.

Garden of Delights is the "picture of the week" in Time Out New York this week! It's a gorgeous image, and we're so excited to be considered "Good Odds" in this big city of theatre.

Just finished an amazing two-day intensive on British Classics with the Old Vic New Voices' Alexander Ferris and 30 crazy-talented upcoming actors and directors. So invigorating and inspiring! I may now have a small obsession with British theatre.

Fit in a little extra work today, on the upcoming feature The Truth About Lies. Look for my power-walking skillz on the treadmill behind Fran Kranz + Miles Fisher... The crew (+ cast) on this set deserve major props for being incredibly sweet and fun-- they made a day of extra work much more delightful.

Fernando Arrabal, the extraordinary playwright of Garden of Delights, came from Spain to see our show and gave a little talk-back tonight. Such a treat to hear from this brilliant man. His thoughts on our production:
Translation: "I found your realization fantastic, original, colorful and very rhythmical... A truly inventive work, an authentic research of the text polysemy... and of its staging... I believe Jerome Bosch himself would have enjoyed this approach, his fantasy at once controlled and seemingly unbridled... the videos... I would love that a show of this quality that it meets the success it deserves... Congratulate all the team once more... I have fond memories of my evening..."

REVIEWS ARE IN for New Stage's Garden of Delights at Theater for the New City. Some of my favorites (mentioning the sheep, of course):
"Then there's the Busby Berkeley chorus line of sensual lambs. At first they are cute and cuddly, more so than humans. But they're also pawns in the way divorcing couples fight over who gets the beloved pets. Finally they return to be the truth we all want: love knows no bounds." - Larry Litt, nytheatre-wire.com
"Surrealism is alive and well in The New Stage Theatre Company's production of Fernando Arrabal's Garden of Delights. It is a stimulating, modern production, full of techno music and video projections, including snippets of Bosch's famous painting The Garden of Earthly Delights. The 80 year-old Spanish-French author, associate of Breton, Tzara, Jodorowsky and Warhol, is even attending performances, and it looked like the chorus line of half-naked women dressed as sheep met with everyone's approval. ...I would see NSTC's next show, and would probably see it several times." - Ed Malin, nytheatre.com

After a lot of weekends away + a wonderful, week-long trip down South (where I got engaged!), I'm happy to be home and making some art in rehearsals. The first showing of my solo with (Alex)andra Taylor Dance is coming up in just a few weeks!

Filmed a little spec commercial for running shoes today with one of my favorite directors, Jon Olson! I've worked with him and his production group since they were students at NYFA in 2008! We got some gorgeous footage running across the George Washington Bridge and through Fort Lee Park in New Jersey.

First rehearsal for The New Stage Theatre Company's Garden of Delights! It's such a treat to do physical theatre (it's kind of maybe my favorite). Watch out for a fierce ensemble of sheep/cheerleaders starting November 15 at Theatre for the New City!
September 15, 2012
More good news for Mac & Cheese! This short film will also be screened at the Big Apple Film Festival in New York City!

A gorgeous day of filming Patrick McGuinn's feature, Leather. I am especially grateful for beautiful weather after Hurricane Irene destroyed our location when we originally planned on filming last Fall. Such a talented cast, crew, and an awesome script by Greg Chandler!

Valerie danced with some gorgeous, rad women in glass masks in Tara Subkoff's Imitation of Christ Show at Bortolami Gallery. The SS13 Fashion Week Presentation was titled, "This is Not a Fashion Show." Check out the video posted on GalleristNY and photos on STYLE.com. Blogger/Twitter reactions to the show have been so stunning- -I'm so proud to have been part of this work.
